Welcome to a latest instalment of ‘Introducing’Echion Music is dedicated putting a spotlight on some of the greatest bands around whether they be big or small. In the ‘Introducing’ feature we put a spotlight on an AMAZING band who you may not be aware of and we think you NEED to check out!

For this instalment of the ‘Introducing’ feature we have an absolute pop punk prodigy of a band. The band in question are Weigh The Anchor and we think you are absolutely going to love them.

Weigh The Anchor are a phenomenal pop punk quintet who hail from Oakville, Ontario. The five piece effortlessly combine catchy as hell melodies, memorable guitar riffs and superb vocals to create a truly unique pop punk sound. The band combine old pop punk tropes with modern heavy breakdowns to create a modern take on the pop punk genre.

Weigh The Anchor released their debut EP True Colours in November 2017 to a hugely positive reception. Their unique pop punk sound has led to the band becoming a well-respected outfit in the local pop-punk/ post-hardcore scene up in Canada.

Recovery is the lead single from the band’s debut E.P. True Colours and is a great showcase of the modern pop punk Weigh The Anchor sound. Weigh The Anchor describe themselves as a band that are “trying to make a dent in the local music scene. Bringing you the upbeat feel and bounce of pop punk riffs, along with some punchy/heavy breakdowns and melodic vocals. We aim to combine the feel of the music that we grew up with, and love so much, with a creative and modern sound.”

The band have recently just wrapped up a headline tour that has seen them play all over Canada with bands such as Rival Town and Calling All Captains. As well as this the band recently posted on social that “Last night wrapped up the recording of our second EP. Huge thank you to Sam Guaiana - Producer/Engineer/Mixer We are extremely proud of these tracks and can't wait to share with everyone!” so new music should hopefully be on the way soon!

We can’t wait for the release of the bands 2nd E.P and one thing’s for sure, if it continues in the same vein as True Colours and Recovery then the band are on well on the top of the pop-punk throne.
