5 SONGS YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO THIS WEEK (RIGHT NOW)
Welcome to the second instalment of 5 songs you should listen to this week (right now). This is a weekly feature where I outline 5 of my favourite songs that you should stop what you are doing and go listen to ASAP!
The songs could be new or old, are from a variety of genres and from both big and small artists. These are simply 5 songs that you need I have been blaring out over the past week that I think you will love. The songs are added to the Echion Music Spotify Top 5’s Playlist to create one mega list which you can find at the bottom of the page!
So without further ado here are 5 songs you should listen to this week (right now).
1) Bullet For My Valentine – Over It (Hard Rock/Metalcore)
Bullet for My Valentine are a hard rock/metal band who hail from Bridgend, Wales. Over It is their latest single and the lead single from their upcoming sixth album Gravity which is set for release on June 29th. Although Over It is a bit of a departure from the style of 2015’s Venom, the song is still an absolute corker.
Without completely reinventing themselves or their music, Bullet have released a track in Over It that still manages to feel fresh and innovative. The guitar work is great, the new drummer Jason Bowld shows the listeners a glimpse of what he is capable of and the vocals are as good as ever. Although some fans may feel the band have toned down their music and gone a little more mainstream, Over It is a good change in a new direction for the band. Over It is a stealer addition to the Bullet for My Valentine library and has gotten me VERY excited for the release of the full album Gravity later this year.
2) Red Handed Denial – Trespasser (Pop-Rock/ Metalcore/Heavy Alternative)
Red Handed Denial are a five piece, female fronted, heavy alternative rock band who hail from Toronto, Canada. Trespasser is the lead single from the bands 2016 EP release titled Wanderer and holy shit, its brilliant. If you like catchy choruses, heavy guitar riffs and a powerhouse vocalist Red Handed Denial are for you.
Trespasser is a powerhouse of a track despite the lack of scream vocals compared to the rest of the bands work. Most of the Red Handed Denial library is a good listen but Trespasser just wedges itself in your brain and will not come out. The melody is catchy as hell, the guitar work is incredible and the video is just pure fun. Give Trespasser a go and I promise you won’t be disappointed, it’s great.
3) Milestones – Paranoid (Pop-Rock)
Milestones are an alternative, pop punk band based out of Manchester, England. Paranoid is the lead single from their sublime debut album Red Lights which was released on 23rd February 2018. Paranoid is a great big slice of pop-rock perfection and shows just how good Milestones can be at their best.
Paranoid has everything a pop-rock anthem needs, a killer guitar riff, an insatiable drum beat and enough emotion to drown even the largest disbeliever. The chorus may be the catchiest the band have ever recorded and the vocals are brilliant. Paranoid also has one of the best guitar riffs of a pop-rock track I’ve heard in a LONG time and just for that reason alone, it’s a must listen.
4) The Beautiful Monument – Manifestation (Alternative/Pop-Punk)
The Beautiful Monument are an all-female heavy alternative band from Melbourne, Australia. Manifestation is the second single taken from the band’s debut album I’m The Sin which was released on February 10th 2017. The Beautiful Monument have received critical praise for their unique sound and have toured with some huge bands such as Architects.
Manifestation is an absolute heavy pop-rock anthem that demands your attention. The drums are heavy as shit, the guitars are great and the vocals are stunning. Manifestation shows The Beautiful Monument at their best and is a must listen for fans of the pop-rock genre. Although The Beautiful Monument may be a little heavier than most pop-rock bands, they use it to their advantage and create a unique sound which will have you hooked and begging for more.
5) Savage Hands – RED (Alternative/Heavy Pop-Rock)
Savage Hands are a heavy alternative quintet who hail from Waldorf, Maryland. Red is the lead single that is taken from the band’s debut EP Barely Alive which was released on 2nd March 2018. Savage Hands combine pop-punk hooks, blistering guitars and some serious Metalcore screams to an amazing effect.
Red is the first single that the band has released and it’s easy to see why. In just over three and a half minutes Red changes from a pop-punk anthem to a Metalcore beast. The drums are blistering, the guitars are intricate and the vocals are amazing, all ingredients for one hell of a good time. Savage Hands may be a new band but if Red is anything to go by, they are definitely ones to keep an eye on in the future.
